Born into a Hindu Brahmin family in Mangalore, Karnataka State, South India, his father, Mr. Prakash Rao Nadiger, was a lawyer, and his mother, Mrs. Saraswathi Nadiger, was devoted to her family. Tragedy struck when he lost his father at the age of 11, leaving him responsible for his mother, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, and his four younger siblings. To support his family, he worked as a server in restaurants and sold newspapers at traffic lights. He later graduated from IIT Bombay from Imperial College and furthered his studies at The Wharton School, USA.
